My Advice

"Don't give up! There were many times I wanted to give up and start something new, but when you are in a trade your getting paid to learn so finish that apprenticeship, get that Journey status, get that Red Seal that might open up doors you never thought were even there!"

Position: Continuing Education Coordinator
Company: College of Carpenters
City: Ontario, Canada

I didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school, but I knew I wanted to be in a trade. I applied to the basic floor covering apprenticeship program at the college of carpenters. I got the call that I was accepted and with a push from my mom, I started my journey into the floor covering apprenticeship in 2009.

In 2015, I reached Journeyman status and also received my Red Seal as a Floor covering mechanic…becoming the first female Red Seal Floor Layer in my Union. Today I am working at the College of Carpenters as the Continuing Education Coordinator.
