"I think students follow their passion by doing something they love. If you have to wake up every single day for the rest of your life, you should be happy to go to work, not dread it. You should be passionate to continue to learn more. You have a long life ahead of you, so don’t do something that you’ll be sad or hate doing because you’ll be doing it forever till you make a change and do something you love. You don’t want to wake up and not want to get out of bed because you hate your job. If you’re going to work the rest of your life, why not do it happily rather than waiting till you can go home every day. "
I aspired to become a pilot till I realized how much time away from my family and friends it would cost me. In grade 10, I changed all my courses for my pathway to becoming a carpenter. I took 4 credit co-op in grades 11 and 12, in which I worked with Habitat for Humanity and built houses for those living in low living standards. I started my apprenticeship in Grade 12 with OYAP and stayed in the union after graduating as well. I am now 19, with the same company for 2 years. I love my job, all the opportunities and new experiences I continue to have.
